Chairwoman: Brenda Battershill from Sweet Memories (01626 776581)

 

Brenda has the owner of Sweet Memories and has been in business for over 15 years.

Honourable Secretary: Chris Evans from Klub Video (07974 979734)

Chris has been in business in Teignmouth for twenty seven years now, he started out as a window cleaner in the early days and then started Klub Video, he has had the shop in Teignmouth for twenty six years and the shop in Dawlish for twenty five years.  Klub Video specialised in video and gaming hire and pick 'n' mix.

Treasurer: David Berg from Fork Handles (07885 965979)

David Berg and his wife renamed it Fork Handles when they took on the hardware shop in the centre of Teignmouth.  David is also an electrician, trading under an entirely different name - Four Candles- so no confusion there.  He purchased the shop when he sold the London alternative health centre which he founded in 1984, one of the first in the UK.  He still practices as an Acupuncturist and this diversity means his work life is very interesting.

Press Liaison: Sam Robins from Ye Olde Jolly Sailor  (07890 134058)

Sam has grown up in and around the Newton Abbot area, his family have been involved in the pub trade for a while now and the Jolly Sailor is their second pub that his family has owned.  When he left college he became a partner in the business with his Dad (Kevin) and his brother (Joe), they have had the Jolly for about seven years now and he is hoping to be there for a long time.

Jacky has lived in and around Teignmouth for nearly 40 years, and works at a local garage as well as being a very active member of the River Teign Rowing Club and her sister jointly owns Brodequin Shoes.
 

Committee Members

Mark Layton from Teign Diving Centre

Mark has lived in Teignmouth for 37 years and opened his dive centre in 1990; he has recently extended his dive centre and now has a chandlery on the side.  Mark is also involved in the Teignmouth regeneration project and also is a harbour commissioner.

Yvonne Miller from Peanuts

Peanuts is a shop in Teign Street that sells new and nearly new clothing for all ages.  I also sell nursery equipment and offer a hire service too.  I have been in business for twenty years.

Mike Jackman from Jackman's Toy Box   (01626 778755)

Mike has been trading in town for about 12 years now and his family own a couple of businesses in town.  He has lived in Teignmouth for about 30 years now and went to T.C.C.

Neil Johns from The Oystercatchers Cafe

 Neil lives locally and he lived in the area almost all his life, he enjoys a wide range of sporting activities from rugby in the winter and cricket in the summer.  He is now the owner of the Oystercatchers Cafe which has been in business for five years now and as well as being a cafe in the day.  It also supports local events in the evenings such as jazz festival and holds other music events throughout the year.

Aubrey Pitts from Alpha Taxis

Aubrey has lived in Teignmouth for forty years, in 1987 he started up a taxi firm with his partner Merrill Colbourne another well known person in our lovely town, the taxi firm is Alpha Taxis, he also at present is the chairman of the Teignbridge hackney and private hire association which he has been for the last 12 years, his main interest outside the business is the world of classic cars of which he has four.  This is just a little of what he has done, as we won't go into his years of entertainment in the disco world.
