TEIGNMOUTH is set to light up for the festive season with its grand Christmas light switch-on ceremony.
Traders, residents and visitors are set to enjoy a grand lantern parade and switch-on Friday, November 18.
The event has been co-ordinated by Teignmouth Traders Association.
The afternoon starts at 4pm at TAAG in Northumberland Place where school children from Inverteign and Hazeldown schools, and with the pantomime cast from the Carlton Theatre, will carry homemade illuminated lanterns in a parade around the town. The lights will be turned on at 4.30pm in the Triangle.
There will be carol singing led by Trinity School's orchestra. The event coincides with the start of Teignmouth Jazz Festival.
A Captain Jack Sparrow lookalike will be special guest and will perform around the town on Saturdays throughout December. Shops will be open for late night shopping.
