Entries of a 'Guy' standard

TEIGNMOUTH traders entered into the November 5 spirit by making Fawkes figures to outside their premises.
Residents took part in a Guy Fawkes' Trail competition, to locate and name all the entries, and the winner of the £25 prize will be drawn today.


The winning entry for the best guy, judged by The Teignmouth Post, was made by Chris Harbut and the Teignmouth Pre-School play group and displayed at the TAAG Center in Northumberland Place.


It Scored highly on the originallity and imagination.  The children decorated the guy with colourful painting of explosions, Catherine Wheels and sparklers, and Chris and his daughter Alanah made the scary head  from chicken wire and papier mache.  Scrap materials were donated by Arts Anonymous, Jack's Patch and TAAG.  -The standard was high this year, and other notable entries included formally dressed gentlemen and fishermen. Some of the Guys will be burned on the bonfire at Shaldon tomorrow.


'The event was in the spirit of Teignmouth: working together.  Searching for the I exhibits in this fun competition encouraged visitors and residents to explore areas of Teignmouth not normally seen, and on the way , taking in some of the , new businesses that have sprung up away from the main centre,' said lain Palmer, from the Teignmouth Traders' Association.
